They are softball champions, too

DERRY — Kaleigh Kneeland and Briahna Janulewicz's names were left out of the caption last week on the picture of the Derry Little League's championship softball team.

Basketball camp for all offered at Salem High

SALEM — The Salem Basketball Camp will be conducted the weeks of July 19-23 and July 26-30 for boys and girls ages 6 to 15 at Salem High School from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.

Players are grouped by age, gender and ability level, so it is an excellent camp for both beginning and experienced players. The camp is well supervised. All players are eligible for many prizes and trophies during games and contests conducted throughout the week.

Astros' field hockey camp starts Monday

DERRY — Registrations are being accepted for the annual Astros Shoot for the Stars Field Hockey camp at Rider Field in Derry July 19-23 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Beginners through high school varsity (grades 5-12) are welcome to attend. Walk-up registrations will be accepted on Mondays.

Lady Astros' basketball camp ends

DERRY — The second week of John Barry's Lady Astros basketball camp at Pinkerton Academy was enjoyable and successful for all participants.

In individual competitions in the high school division, Derry's Sydni Leger was the free-throw champion. Ande Manchester, also from Derry, won at knockout. Courtney Shay from Londonderry was the victor at 1-on-1.

In the college division, Amanda Lemire of Auburn took the free-throw crown. Val Shay of Londonderry was the knockout champ and Chester's Alexis Reishus dominated the 1-on-1 competition.

The pro division's individual champions were controlled by two Pelham girls. Layne Philipson took the honors in 1-on-1 and Lauren Anderson was the victor at knockout. Haley O'Neil of Auburn rounded things out taking the free-throw crown. All players were reminded that "good things take time" and they should work on their skills between now and next basketball season.

St. Anne's Church hosts race July 31

HAMPSTEAD — St. Anne's Church, 26 Emerson Ave. in Hampstead, is holding its 18th Annual Lakes Race on Saturday, July 31. This is a 5-mile race on a USATF-certified course, starting at 9 a.m. It also includes a 5K noncompetitive fun walk.

Pre-registration is $18, and includes a Table Talk pie and official race T-shirt. Registration within one week of the race is $20, with no guarantee of pie or shirt. For an application, to register online, or for more information visit saintannechurchnh.org/summer-festival.asp.
