Three AAU programs join forces

MANCHESTER — The New England Basketball Family has announced its official program launch for the spring 2013 AAU Basketball season.

NEB is a merger of three of the most successful NH Boys AAU programs in the past three years, combining for 10 state championships: Bishop Elite (7 time State Champions), Granite State Gladiators (2012 U14 State Champions) and NH Titans (2009 U13 and 2012 U16 State Champions).

The three program directors, Sudi Lett (Bishop Elite), Karl Lennon (Granite State Gladiators) and Gregg Dorman (NH Titans) will continue to serve as directors and coaches of the New England Basketball Family.

Additionally, Tim Finnegan, former Londonderry High School JV coach and director of NH Fastbreak AAU, will also join NEB. Tim Lambrou (Amherst MS and NH Titans), Terry Mann (Londonderry High JV coach), Frank Moreno (Bedford High assistant coach) and Tom Dickson (Central High School JV coach) will also join the coaching staff.

“All three programs have established strong relationships with their players,” Lett said. “We wanted to make sure we maintain those traditions, but at the same time ensure we can improve our ability to compete with the best teams in the country.” All three programs sent teams to the AAU National tournament last year. The new basketball family has a goal of not just sending teams, but winning at multiple levels.

Information on spring tryouts will be posted shortly. There are plans for four types of basketball opportunities; National, Regional, Local, and skills based with teams based in the Manchester, Derry, Plaistow and Bedford areas.
