The Pinkerton girls faced Alvirne (112-58), Bishop Guertin (94-76) and Nashua (100-69).
Junior Jacquelyn Pierson and junior Rebekah Terry in the 50 free and freshman Elizabeth Preble in the 500 free all had important swims.
Astros boys do well
In a meet at the Workout Club in Londonderry, the Astros (8-3) went up against Alvirne, Bishop Guertin, and Nashua North.
The Astros were able to take all the dual meets, with the exception of the boys versus the defending state champions Bishop Guertin.
Astros fall to Salem
The Astros were back in league action Jan. 2 when they hosted the Salem Blue Devils.
On a night when the Astros raised their 2011-2012 State Championship banner, the 2012-2013 squad lacked energy as Salem beat them all over the ice for the tight 1-0 victory.
Despite the strong effort in net by Nate Mitchell, who stopped 24 shots, Pinkerton couldn’t win.
Pinkerton tops Concord
The Astros were able to even their record with a 5-1 win Jan. 5 over visiting Concord.
The score can be misleading as Concord actually outshot the Astros 37 to 20, but the Astros kept most of the shots to the outside and Matt Marchman did the rest in goal.
Concord took the early 1-0 lead before the Astros evened the score at the end of the first on the powerplay when Connor Brady banged home a rebound.
The first five minutes of the second period, the Astros picked up the pace, scoring three times. Jake Veilluex, Dom Corsetto and Connor Brady put the Astos ahead to stay. In the third, Max Campbell picked up the fifth goal.
Astros ice Blue Devils
The JV Astros team defeated Salem recently, 7-1.
Ryan Monte, Ethan Landry, Steve Leonard, John Polichetti, Tyler Prendergast, Mike Bellmore and Kenny Chamberlain each scored for the Astros.
The win improved the JV record to 2-3.
