DERRY — The Greater Derry Track Club announced the inaugural Run for Freedom 5K/10K beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 4.
Paper and online registration are now open, with tech T-shirts available through June 25. Race day sign-up begins at 6:30 a.m at Pinkerton Academy.
All funds from the races will be donated to Liberty House in Manchester, a nonprofit organization sponsored by the Manchester VFW and offering transitional housing, medical care, and job assistance to homeless veterans in New Hampshire.
The application and brochure can be found at gdtc.org/runforfreedom.
The 5K and 10K races will be chip-timed, with age group winners three deep in both races. All runners are eligible for raffle prizes.
The Greater Derry Track Club is a nonprofit charitable organization devoted to promoting running and related activities. GDTC is also sponsoring its first community “Get into Fitness” Couch to 5K initiative, a free, eight-week program open to anyone in the community interested in training for the 5K Run for Freedom. More information and an application are available at gdtc.org.
This race is a family fun event for the Greater Derry community to honor the bravery and strength of those who fought and died for our country. Celebrate July 4 and honoring local heroes.
