Nashua South tops Astros

The JV Lady Astros played well in their last match of the regular season, but Nashua South came away with the win, 20-26, 25-12, 13-15.

Elizabeth Hicks had 9 assists on the day. Nicole Langlais had 4 kills as the right side hitter and Brittany Capozzi had 5 kills in the middle.

Khloe O’Brien had 6 key aces, while Cheyenne Wright had 3 aces as well.

The junior Lady Astros ended the regular season with a record of 13-5.

Freshman

Young Astros fall to Nashua

The freshman volleyball team lost to Nashua South, 2-1, last week.

The Astros played an excellent first game, winning 27-25, but fell short the last two games.

The Astros had an excellent night at the service line. Maggie Gildea, Vicki Walder and Brenna Thibodeau each served 5 aces each.

Evan Duval, Baylie Scheibert and Molly DeCarlo played great defensively. Baylie Scheibert, Carly McDonough and Whitney Leyland set well for the Astros.

Young Astros wrap up season

The freshman Lady Astros ended their season Saturday at Salem High School at the Freshman Volleyball Tournament.

The Astros played well all day against Salem, Merrimack, Portsmouth and Nashua South.

The Astros beat Portsmouth in their final match, a team they lost to in the regular season. They also gave Nashua South a tough match, never giving up, but falling just short of a win.

The game against Nashua South was the best the Astros have played all season. It really showed how much they have improved since August.

Brenna Thibodeau, Tori Lunetta, Maddie Prevost, Miranda Rossignol, Molly DeCarlo and Bianca Herlihy played well at the net.

Evan Duval, Vicki Walder, Maggie Gildea and Baylie Scheibert played excellent defensively.

Whitney Leyland, Carly McDonough, and Baylie Scheibert all set great for the Astros. Molly DeCarlo led the Astros from the service line.
