Astros top Merrimack
The varisty Astros won their 10th game of the season Oct. 15 with a 3-1 victory over Merrimack.
Josh Johnston worked hard and created two assists. Goals were scored by Tommy Martin, Tim Wood and Devin Moore.
Matt Dunn, Brian Kling and John Hamilton played well.
Ending on a high note
The varsity closed out its regular season Oct. 17 by shutting out Dover and collecting the 11th victory of the season, 5-0.
Tommy Martin and Tim Wood scored 2 goals each and Ryan Williams added a single tally. The Astros didn’t receive a yellow card all year.
The seniors on the team are: Justin Sandberg, Tom Hanna, Alex Horan, Matt Dunn, Tyler Thibodeau, Devin Croteau, Chris Horan, Austin Smith, Ryan Williams, and captains Brian Kling and Dustin Beamon.
Double OT ends in tie
The JV Astros played Merrimack through double overtime and settled for a 2-2 tie.
Pinkerton got off to an early lead seven minutes in with a pass from Zach Bell to Kayake Alves for a 1-0 lead. In the second half, Merrimack packed in its defense to try to preserve the lead after scoring twice.
The Astros never gave up and, with less than two minutes left, Jake Konstant scored the equalizer. Overtime was dominated by the Astros, but they could never find the back of the net.
Astros, Dover tie
On Oct. 17, the JV Astros tied with Dover, 1-1.
Pinkerton’s Sean Donohue scored after receiving a pass from Zack Bell 7 minutes in. The Astros were unable to find the back of the net again, even though they out-shot Dover, 25-6.
Zach Bell, Cody Anshewitz, Jake Konstant and Kyle Hicks all played well.
Pinkerton defeats Central
The freshmen boys soccer team was able to pull out a 2-1 victory over a tough Central team.
Central went ahead on a penalty kick that keeper Hayden Pavao stopped, but the Central player was able to convert his rebound.
