Hoop shoot set for Dec. 5
DERRY — The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Derry once again hosts the Derry/Salem Elks local round of the National Hoop Shoot contest, a basketball foul-shooting skills contest open to both boys and girls between the ages of 8-13.
There are three age group divisions for boys and three separate age group divisions for girls (8-9-year-old, 10-11-year-old, 12-13-year-old). Contestants only shoot against kids their own age.
The division is determined by the youth's age on April 1, 2010.
The contest is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Boys and Girls Club gym. Registration runs from 8 to 9 a.m. with contest beginning at 9 a.m. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each age group with all first-place winners advancing to the district championship in early January.
