Mites
The Salem Saints Mites skated to a 4-4 tie with fast skating Beverly Saturday morning. Tip of the hat to Mason Drouin who had 3 goals, 2 were short handed. Tying up the game with 1:29 left in the 3rd was Nick Peters. In goal protecting his net was the acrobatic Patrick Cohen who had a fine debut.
Squirts
Squirt 1 team had a tough loss to Medford 3-2. The kid's took a 1-0 lead into the 3rd period. Steve Birch got the team out in front with an unassisted goal. Paddy Capsalis was solid in the net denying several strong scoring bids. Medford scored 3 third period goals before Salem could put anything else on the board. Landon Krekorian scored assisted by Aidan Breen with seven seconds remaining in the game. Charlie Beneze turned in a good performance on defense with aggressive play in the offensive and defensive zones.
The Squirt 2 team went 1-1-0 for the weekend. The team put a big score on the board beating Wakefield 9-1. Goals were scored by Jacob Heckman, Eric DeFelice (2), Mason Healey (4), Patrick Hare and the final goal was scored by Shea Kingsley.
Assists go to Michael Vincente (2), Hunter Healey, Matt Diprizio and Mason Healey. The loss came on Sunday against Masco 1-0.
PeeWees
Back from playing a tournament last weekend, the PeeWee 1 team came up short against Andover 4-3. Goals scored by Danny Donovan, Connor McCurley and Chad Desautels. Assists credited to Nick Donnelly and Jake Yennaco. Their other game of the weekend was an early morning 1-1 tie against Melrose.
It was a good game and the boys worked hard. Salem's lone goal came from Connor McCurley assisted by Jake Sylvester.
The PeeWee 2 team played at the Icenter Halloween day. Home turf may have given them the edge to beat Chelmsford 4-1. Strong netminding by Nick Sturgess allowed only one goal in the first period. Goals were scored by Joey Goudey assisted by Abigail Lagos, Michael Durfee unassisted, Joey Goudey unassisted and Seth McCarthy assisted by Chris Giddings and Michael Durfee.
Bantams
Bantam 1 Saints ended their Friday night in a 5-5 tie with Winchester. The Saints got on the board first by Dustin Lubinger, with assistance from Matt Bauchman and Shane Morin. The Saints took a 2-0 lead when Jason Parker tickled the twine with Matt Bauchman and Zach Sylvester being credited with assists. Winchester scored their first goal near the end of the first period. The score was tied 3-3 at the end of the second period. Matt Bauchman scored two times with each goal bringing the Saints back into the game by tieing the score. Jason Parker scored to put the Saints ahead 5-4. Winchester was able to tie the game with 1:02 on the clock.
Sunday morning the Bantam 1's returned to the ice with a win against Concord 4-2. Goals credited to Brian Frazier, Matt Bauchman (2) and Jason Parker. Assists recorded for Matt Bauchman, Dustin Lubinger, and Shane Morin. Matt Halaby was tough between the pipes and frustrated the Concord team.
Midget
Midget 2 went 2-0-0. The first win was against Nashoba 7-1. Salem looked sharp and skated and passed well. Ryan Corbett, Jovanni Geha, Cam Brock (2), Jon Longstaffe (2) and Matt Merchel provided the goals for the Saints. While Jon Longstaffe (2), Jeremy Arzuaga (2), Aaron Hascall (2) and Brian Blanchette all had assists. Second win turned out to be a shutout 4-0 against Groton. The Saints came out strong and scored three goals in the first period.
Scoring for the team was Brian Blanchette (2), Ryan Pease and Aaron Hascall, while Ryan Pease, Tyler Ellsey and Jeremy Arzuaga were credited with assists. Groton tried to get back in the game but AJ Soucy stood tall in net, turning away several good scoring opportunities.
