Demons battle hard, with mixed results
The Demons began a 3 week road trip this weekend against with mixed results against the NorRock Vikings and the Mill City Maulers.
6th Grade— NorRock 21, Derry 7
The 6th grade team took some lumps Sunday against a very fast and physical NorRock Viking team losing their first game of the season. The Demons fought hard all day but in the end three big run plays by the NorRock offense proved to be the difference. The defense was strong up the middle for the Demons not allowing much ground behind solid play by the front four — Curley, Horak, Sturdevant and Greenaway — and the middle linebackers Gendron and Lydick with Matt Mulligan making several key tackles. Offensively, the Demons were able to get some yardage up the middle with a few strong runs by Lydick and Stuart but in the end it was not enough. The 6th grade team is now 4-1 on the season.
5th Grade — Derry 14, Manchester East 0
The 5th grade team was caught up in a defensive struggle all day against a solid NorRock team. Deene Hll and JJ Wright continue to dominate the defensive line while Nico Buccieri and Nathan Barnhart remain solid defensive contributors in the defensive backfield. On offense, Chloe Pacocha and Jackson Sullivan continue to make big plays and the blocking up front from Ryan Kittery, Kyle Fortier and Adam Morin continues to be a major factor allowing Nico Busccieri and Sam Goudreault to find the end zone for the games only scores. The 5th grade is now 4 - 1 on the season.
4th Grade — NorRock 14, Derry 0
The 4th grade team struggled on both sides of the ball against the NorRock Vikings. On defense, Cam Longo, Nick Ward and Joron Harrell all stepped up their games to keep the score close, while Aaron Tunstall and Matt Newman did their best to put points on the board with several nice runs. In the end the Vikings defensive pressure proved to be to much for the Demons. The 4th grade team is now 4-1 on the season.
3rd Grade — Derry wins over Mill City
The 3rd grade team once again showed that they are learning and improving each week they have now won three straight games. This week they played the Mill City Maulers down in Lawrence and came away with another impressive victory. Hunter Ickes and Seth Williams continue to lead this very young Demons team making several incredible runs on offense and stepping up on defense. The 3rd grade team is now 3-1 on the season.
The Demons are in Goffstown and Monadnock this week.
