U13 elite lacrosse team takes crown

The Granite State Warriors U13 Elite Lacrosse program traveled to Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I., the weekend of June 26-27. The Warriors, in only their second year of existence, rolled over the competition and completed the weekend with a 7-0 record.

On Saturday, the Warriors came out flying beating the NLAX Elite team from Norwell, Mass., 18-2.

The boys from New Hampshire continued their dominating play against a team from the Seacoast area of New Hampshire, winning 16-4.

The last game on Saturday ended in another convincing win as they beat the New Hampshire Tomahawks, 16-3.

Going into Sunday's matches, the Warriors knew they had to continue to win as there were many solid teams from around the country. In the first game on Sunday, the Warriors came out on fire, beating the NLAX A team by a score of 14-2.

Going into the next game, the Warriors knew they had a chance of receiving a bye in the championship round if they could win the contest. The Warriors did not let this opportunity slip by; they beat NESLL Mass., 15-2.

In the championship round, which are only 30-minute games, the Warriors started off slow against the Prime Time Penguins from Rhode Island. The Penguins played a controlled game, keeping possession for the first 8 minutes and then netting the first goal of the contest for a 1-0 lead.

After that, it was all Warriors. They peppered the Penguins' goalie with shot after shot, finally putting one behind the outstanding Penguin goaltender at the 12-minute mark. It only took the Warriors another minute to take the lead 2-1 and finish off the contest with a solid 3-1 win.

Before the championship game, the Warriors knew they had their hands full with the Stickheads from West Islip, Long Island. The Stickheads had a very stingy defense, which only allowed 2 goals the whole tournament. This game was all about defense as the game was scoreless after 14 minutes of play. The Warriors finally scored at the 15-minute mark and added another score to seal the victory with a 2-0 win and become the Bryant Bulldog Classic champions.

The team includes: Todd Billetter, Brett Dattilo, Cam DiGiacomo, Matt Muser, Cam Peredna, Cam Richard, Matt Treanor and Carter Young, all of Derry; Mason Barchard of Chester; Max Hastings of Londonderry; Ryan O'Neil and Jake Lakos of Salem; William Sheppard of Manchester; Matt Dyer, Sam Stanton and Tyler Sullivan of Bedford; Connor Cyr, Connor Macinnis and Chris Norwalk of Merrimack; Alex Parent and Chad Riddle of Windham; Jack McNallen of Amherst; Jacob Bohle of Goffstown; John Osborne of Concord; Walker Italia of Exeter; and Dylan LaBranche of Bow.
