Pinkerton wrestlers look strong

Derry News

---- — DERRY — Forty-two athletes tried out for Pinkerton’s Division I wrestling team; 17 made the cut.

Coach Dave Rhoads has nine returning starters, three seniors, three juniors and three sophomores.

Standout sophomore Jean-Luc Lemieux, Chris Wright and Tyler Wilson all return as sophomores. Juniors Kevin Ell, Hunter Morris and Brett Wilson join seniors Carl Berling, Dakota Krol and Tony Messina to complete the returning starter squad.

Other returning varsity players are sophomore Eric Daigle and junior Nick Messina.

Rhoads also has six promising newcomers: freshmen Dylan Barriero, Seamus Dolan, John Durant and Hayden Sturdevant, as well as sophomore Brenden Sullivan and senior Camden Crowell.

The keys to another successful season are “continued focus and commitment,” Rhoads said.

“Our numbers are strong and we have very strong leadership in the upper classmen,” he said.
