Hood Park has a lot happening

DERRY — The Derry Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting a variety of themed weeks throughout the summer months at Hood Park, located at 4 Rollins St.

Each week's activities and events are based around a theme meant to encourage participation for all. Participants are encouraged to dress in themed attire for any day throughout the week.

"Around the Campfire" week will run from June 25 to June 29, and provide loads of fun activities reminiscent of a classic camping trip.

Although, nearly all activities and events at Hood Park are free, be sure to check the descriptions below for any additional fees that may apply. Most events and activities begin at 1:30 p.m., unless otherwise specified.

Monday, June 25: Craft of the Day and Free Swim. Create the campfire craft of the day and enjoy a refreshing swim afterward (special note: Pollywog Swim 1 begins).

Tuesday, June 26: Spooky Stories and S'mores. Gather around as Hood Park Staff members tell a tale of suspense and intrigue by the water. Wednesday, June 27: NH Wildlife Show. The Squam Lakes Natural Science Center will be here to help you discover some of the wild animals that live in the Granite State. Join in to meet these animals and talk about the characteristics that suit them for life in New England. The craft of the day is owls. (Special note: Swim 1 screening is from 10 a.m. to noon and from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.)
