RAYS make a splash at UNH

A small group of swimmers from the Rockingham Area Youth Swim team started off their swimming New Year competing at the SSA New Year's IMX Classic Meet at the University of New Hampshire on Jan. 7 and 8.

This was a very competitive meet with some 30 participants in individual events for the 8-and-under age group and up to 90 participants in events in the 15-and-over age group.

There was no scoring at this meet. Londonderry, Derry and Danville swimmers placing in the top 16 in their events at this meet were as follows:

8 & Under Girls

Kaitlin Witkop (Londonderry) eighth in 25 free, 10th in 25 fly, 13th in 25 back.

Ella Dyjak (Londonderry) 12th in 50 free.

11-12 Girls

Hannah Terry (Danville) first in 100 Back, 50 free, 50 fly, 100 breast, 50 breast and 100 IM, third in 50 back, fourth in 100 fly.

11-12 Boys

Addison Carder-Cannillo (Derry) eighth in 50 fly and 50 breast, ninth in 50 back, 10th in 100 breast, 11th in 100 back and 100 fly.

15 & Over Girls

Tori Claverie (Derry) 15th in 100 free.

Ellen Courtemanche (Londonderry) 16th in 200 fly.

Hannah Terry distinguished herself at this meet by setting RAYS team record times in the 11-12 girls age group for the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.87 and the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:08.25.
