LONDONDERRY — For the second consecutive year, the Londonderry Police Department took the trophy and bragging rights by winning the annual police-fire softball game during Old Home Day.
It was a high-scoring game. The score isn’t official because no one appears to know what the final tally was.
But brand-new fire Chief Darren O’Brien said he believed his department was on the short end of a 27-20 score.
“We had a lot of fun,” O’Brien said.”There were lots of veterans and new guys on the team.”
His first year at the helm for the annual benefit wasn’t a winning effort, but the real winners are the children who attend Camp Pride, a Lions Club summer camp.
The score hardly seemed relevant, but no doubt there will be some good-natured ribbing in the months to come.
“There’s always next year,” O’Brien said.
