Free self-defense event offered to women

DERRY — A free self-defense workshop for women is held June 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at ATA Martial Arts in Derry, Sportszone, second floor.

The seminar invites all women, friends, mothers to attend, as long as they are 8 or older.

The event is free, but call to register at 472-4022. Wear comfortable clothing. There will be a question-and-answer time following the seminar. Visit derryata.com.

LONDONDERRY — The Londonderry Youth Golf Program begins June 23 for the competitive program and June 25 for the instructional program.

This recreational program is designed to accommodate both beginning and experienced golfers ages 7 to 18.

The instructional program (ages 7 to 13) meets Tuesday evenings for seven weeks and costs $65. The competitive program (ages 12 to 18) meets on Sunday and Tuesday evenings for eight weeks and costs $185.

Both the instructional and competitive programs are held at The Windham Country Club.

Sign up for Best Buddies Tennis Challenge

The Best Buddies NH Tennis Challenge 2013 will be held on June 7-9 at the County Road Courts in Bedford.

The event is co-sponsored by Granite State Kids and all proceeds will benefit Best Buddies, an organization that will provides individuals with developmental disabilities one-to-one friendship, integrated employment and leadership development.

The event will be a Round Robin format with raffles, food and an Adaptive Tennis Social. Divisions will include Junior, Parent/Child, Men’s and Women’s Doubles, Mixed and Singles.

Hone field hockey skills at camp

DERRY — The Red and White Field Hockey Camp is set for July 15-19 and July 22-26 at Pinkerton Academy’s field hockey field.
