Pinkerton blanks Concord

Concord came to Derry Sept. 19 and left with a loss, 2-0. The Astros converted two of many opportunities, according to coach Kerry Boles.

Goals came from Owen Murray and Devin Moore. Murray’s goal was unassisted. John hamilton got the assist for the second goal.

John Hamilton, Chris Horan and Brian Kling played very well for the Astros. Alex Horan earned his third shutout (second consecutive) of the season in goal with five saves.

“This was a frustrating game for us today. We had so many golden opportunities, but didn’t cash in,” Boles said. “And, we helped Concord’s effort today with our mistakes. We’ll need to clean up our individual miscues in order to get through these next couple of weeks. Hopefully we can solve a few issues in a timely fashion.”

Astros trounce Salem

Pinkerton struggled out of the gate Sept. 22 during homecoming weekend when hosting the Salem Blue Devils.

Salem scored first, but that was their only goal. The Astros won, 7-1.

Pinkerton’s goals came from John Hamilton (Tim Wood); Matt Dunn (John Hamilton); Cam Burke (Josh Johnston); Phil Lerner (Ryan Williams); Phil Lerner (Chris Horan); Ryan Williams (Phil Lerner); and Tim Wood (Devin Moore).

Alex Horan had seven saves in net.

Tyler Thibodeau, Chris Horan and Brian Kling played well for the Astros.

“Today was fun. It’s always enjoyable when you have a comfortable margin and everyone gets playing time,” coack Kerry Boles said. “We still have to solve some issues very quickly because we have the meat of the schedule coming up in the next few weeks. We’ll see.”

Junior Astros earn shutout

On Sept. 19, the JV Astros defeated Concord at home, 6-0.

With the combination of team defense and superb goalkeeping, the boys posted yet another shutout. The scoring started off with a great cross from Alex Ebner that found Sean Donahue’s head in the middle 10 minutes into the game.
