Synchronized swimmers kick off competition

---- — The Catalinas Synchronized Swim team of the YMCA of Manchester got the 2012-13 competition year off to a good start at the 2013 New England Synchronized Swim Association Figure meet at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass. Eight teams from all over New England were represented at the meet.

Grace Hanna of Goffstown placed third and Isa Lamers of Hampstead placed sixth in the 11-12 Novice Division. Zara Hannigan of Manchester placed first and Sophie Barber, also of Manchester, placed fifth in the 13 and over Novice Division.

Julia Caselden of Derry placed third in the 10 and under Intermediate Division. Madelinn Harmelink of Dunbarton placed fourth in the 13 and over Intermediate Division.

The Age Group team of the Catalinas swam at the 15 and Under Invitational and Jr/Sr Championship meet held at the North Shore YMCA in Beverly, Mass.

Abigail Smith of Manchester and Katherine Spalding of Mont Vernon placed fourth, and Lindsey Andrews of Dunbarton and Olivia Caselden of Derry placed fifth for their duet routines in the 13 to 15 Age Group. Katherine Spalding placed first for her solo routine in the 13 to 15 Age Group.

In the Senior Age Group, Irina Kustovskaya of Goffstown and Molly Spalding of Mont Vernon placed fourth for their duet routine. Irina Kustovskaya placed third, Molly Spalding placed fourth and Sarah Hannaford of Bedford placed fifth for their Senior Age Group solo routines.
