Taylor Ferdinando kept the defense guessing, serving 22 points from the line. Maddie Neidlingeer added 6 aces.
Brenna McNally had 21 kills and 19 digs. Courtney Collins played a strong game at the net blocking 4. Amanda Stikeman added 27 assists.
Astros take it in 5
On Sept. 12, the varsity Lady Astros traveled to Rochester to take on Spaulding.
Pinkerton dropped the first two matches by scores of 25-20 and 25-18. Games three and four proved different as they won those by scores of 25-22 and 25-22, forcing a fifth game.
Brenna McNally was fearless from the serving line, stepping back and serving the final six points of the match, five of which were aces. She also added 12 kills and 22 digs.
Taylor Ferdinando had 14 assists. Tyla Mahon picked up 5 blocks in the final two games to help lift the Astros to a big-come-from-behind victory.
Timberlanes tops Pinkerton
The JV Lady Astros lost to the Timberlane Owls, but played well.
Michaela Blackwell had 3 blocks and was a great force at the net.
Erica White, Brittany Capozzi and Jillian Tonello had 4 kills apiece. Cheyenne Wright and Kate Garrison each had 4 aces.
Fay Harrington, Olivia Mathieu and Mary Anne Tompkins each had key blocks at the net and Nicole Langlais was stunning in the back row. Elizabeth Hicks and Khloe O’Brien each had 6 assists on the day.
Astros fall to Spaulding
The JV Lady Astros lost the first two games, but won the third Sept. 13 against Spaulding.
Fay Harrington had a service ace on the day. Erica White had 2 kills and an ace. Elizabeth Hicks had 5 assists.
Young Astros improve
The freshman Lady Astros improved their record to 3-2 by beating Exeter, 2-1.
Vicki Walder, Maggie Gildea, Miranda Rossignol and Carly McDonough all served well, getting one ace each.
Molly DeCarlo served 12 points in the match. Brenna Thibodeau played well at the net.
