Astros take first place
Pinkerton’s boys cross-country team traveled to Concord Sept. 11 to run against Merrimack, Alvirne and host Concord at NHTI.
The Astros came out on top with the low score of 36 on the day. Chris Poggi finished third in a time of 17:01, Sean Kopetz was the second Astro across the line in a time of 17:34, followed by Connor Kwiecien in 17:40.
Rounding out the top seven were Joe Poggi, Nick Pietrocarlo, Nate Rees and Austin Smith.
Trailblazers off to 3-0 start
The Pinkerton Trailblazers got off to a great start winning their first regular season meet beating Concord, Alvirne,and Merrimack to start their season off 3-0.
Leading the way for the team was freshman Ariel Vailcourt, who placed second in the race with a personal best time of 20:39. Senior Felicia Dowling took fourth overall, breaking 21 with a time of 20:56.
Other top five performances were run by freshman Taylor Lacey, junior Haley McMullen and senior Siobhan McLaughlin.
Veilleux, Byrne lead Astros
The varsity team got back on track, sweeping their match Sept. 12 at Merrimack’s home course Souhegan Woods (par 36).
Pinkerton was led by senior Jake Veilleux and junior Eric Byrne, who both shot 4 over 40.
Astros lose tie-breaker
Pinkerton defeated Nashua South and Manchester West, while losing to Concord in a tie-breaker Sept. 14 when they hosted at Hoodkroft Country Club.
Pinkerton improved its record to 15- 5 on the season.
Astros top two teams
Pinkerton’s JV golf team traveled to Souhegan Woods to take on Bishop Guertin and Souhegan last week.
The Astros shot a 217 to defeat both teams.
Marshall Halpin led the Astros with a 37 (medalist for the match).
Michaela Griffin came in with a 43, Tyler Busby a 44 and Nate Ralston a 45.

The varsity Lady Astros defeated Timberlane Sept. 10. 3-2.
