Firearms raffle to aid Conservation Law enforcement

CONCORD — Tickets went on sale Aug. 1 for the first-ever firearms raffle sponsored by the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of New Hampshire and the Barn Store of New England to benefit Conservation Law Enforcement activities of the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.

Ticket sales will run through Nov. 16.

Tickets are $40 each and will be available from the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of New Hampshire; the Barn Store of New England, 96 Old Turnpike Road, Salisbury, 648-2888; and at the National Hunting and Fishing Day New Hampshire Expo at the N.H. Fish and Game Department in Concord on Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In all, 30 firearms will be raffled over 30 days from Nov. 1 through Nov.30. Among the firearms to be raffled are the Browning x-bolt Hunt, Beretta PX4, Henry H004 Golden Boy, Ruger LCR-22, and the Ruger American.

“The raffle is a great example of how the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of New Hampshire can partner with the private sector to benefit the diverse programs of the N.H. Fish and Game Department,” said Steve White, foundation chairman. “We are continuing to look for opportunities to partner with groups in the public and private sectors to support wildlife management, conservation education and recreational safety.”

Proceeds from the raffle will be directed toward critical Fish and Game law enforcement initiatives that have been scaled back, such as the hikeSafe Program, Operation Game Thief and the Canine Search and Rescue Program, among others.

Experiencing budget cuts to several of his programs over the past few years, Col. Martin Garabedian, chief of the Law Enforcement Division, said he is excited to have this opportunity to work with the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of New Hampshire.

Raffle winners must be at least 18 years old to take possession of either a rifle or shotgun, and at least 21 years old to take possession of a handgun. Guns are not transferrable. Prizes must be claimed within 30 days of the winning ticket date. For a full set of raffle rules, visit nhwildlifefoundation.org.
