Runners join GDTC Run for Freedom

Local runners pack the field for GDTC event

DERRY — The Greater Derry Track Club announced the results of its second 5K/10K Run For Freedom July 4.

Most runners came from Derry and surrounding towns.

The 5K participants included a group of beginning runners who trained with members of the GDTC during its eight-week Couch to 5K program. After the races, all enjoyed refreshments, including fresh fruit, bagels, yogurt, coffee, and potato chips.

All proceeds from the races will be donated to Liberty House in Manchester, a nonprofit organization sponsored by the Manchester VFW that offers transitional housing, medical care, and job assistance to homeless veterans in New Hampshire. All participants were also asked to bring a donation of a nonperishable food item to help restock local food banks.
