Local swimmers shine at synchronized meet

The Catalinas Synchronized Swim Team of the Granite YMCA swam at the 2014 New England Synchronized Swim Association North competition against other teams from New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

In the Novice division, Reilly Roedel of Manchester placed first and Saola Gunther of Merrimack sixth in the 9-10 figures and first in their 9-10 duet routine. Emma Favorite placed first and Elliot Moller second in the 11-12 figures, as well as first in their 11-12 duet routine. Both girls are from Manchester. Sandy DeHut of Manchester placed first and Annalise Poisson of Amherst second in the 13 and over figures, as well as first in their 13 and over novice duet routine. All novices swam together in the 13 and over team routine and placed first.

In the Intermediate level, Julia Caselden of Derry placed first, Grace Hanna of Goffstown fifth, Isa Lamers of Hampstead seventh and Julia Benson of Concord eighth in the 11-12 figures, as well as first in the 11-12-team routine. Julia Caselden also placed first for her 11-12 solo routine. Sarah Hanna of Goffstown placed first, Riley Cullen of Manchester second, Elizabeth Herod of Goffstown fifth and Rachel Venator of Concord eighth in the 13 and over figures. Sarah Hanna, Elizabeth Herod and Rachel Venator placed first for their 13 and over trio routine. The 13 and over team made up of Sophie Barber, Rachel Phelan, and Zara Hannigan, all of Manchester, Riley Cullen, Elizabeth Herod, and Rachel Venator placed second for their team routine. All of the intermediate routines qualified for the 2014 Region D Synchronized Swim Championships in Billerica, Mass.

In the Masters division, Emily McAuliffe of Londonderry placed first in the 18-29 Figures as well as first in her solo routine.

The Age Group Catalinas and Master squad swam in the 2014 New England Synchronized Swim Association Age Group Championships at the YWCA of Central Massachusetts in Worcester.

In the 18-19 age group figures, Katherine Spalding of Mont Vernon placed second, Molly Spalding of Mont Vernon fifth, Abigail Smith of Manchester sixth, Lindsey Andrews of Dunbarton seventh and Olivia Caselden of Derry eighth. Irina Kustovskaya of Goffstown placed second and Sarah Hannaford of Bedford third for their 16-17 solo routines. Katherine and Molly Spalding placed second in their 18-19 duet routine. Lindsey Andrews, Olivia Caselden, Madelinn Harmelink of Dunbarton, Abigail Smith, Katherine Spalding and Molly Spalding placed fourth for their 18-19 team routine. The solo and the duet routines qualified for the 2014 Region D Synchronized Swim Championships in Billerica.

In the Masters Division, Emily McAuliffe placed first in the 18-29 figures and solo routine.
