High school playoffs continue

Playoff action continues this week for the Astros and Lancers.

The games will be played too late for this week’s edition.

The Pinkerton girls lacrosse team trounced Salem, 18-10, in the semifinals and were scheduled to face top-seeded Souhegan Wednesday.

Against Salem, Kennedy Daziel led the way with five goals and an assist. Maggie McCarthy chipped in with three goals and an assist.

Connor Donahue threw a brilliant one-hitter, striking out six, to pace Pinkerton past Exeter, 4-0, in the Division 1 baseball quarterfinals.

He took a no-hitter into the seventh before Exeter’s Colin Graham broke it up with a single. Joe Murphy led the offense for the Astros (15-6) with two hits and two RBIs while Chace Spears and Ryan Day also had two hits with Spears scoring twice.

Pinkerton was scheduled to face Alvirne in the semifinals Wednesday at Holman Stadium in Nashua.

The Londonderry Lancers, after beating Nashua North, 9-6, in quarterfinal action, were scheduled to face Bedfor in the semifinals Wednesday.

In boys lacrosse. the Astros rolled over Exeter in the Division 1 semifinals, 15-4.

Pinkerton was scheduled to play top-seeded Bishop Guertin in the championship game Wednesday at Bedford High.
