The U-17 Boys Seacoast United Soccer Team recently won the New Hampshire Soccer State Championship in an amazing, 3-2, come-from-behind win over the Lightning Soccer Club of Hanover.
This championship win moves the team into the 13 State Region 1 tournament as the New Hampshire representative.
Down 0-2 with just 15 minutes to play, the Seacoast team got a quick goal and then, within a minute, a header off a corner kick tied the game at 2-2.
With time running out, Seacoast made a final push and on a shot to goal, one of the Lightning players dove and used his arm to block the attempt, which garnered a red card for the Lightning. Seacoast was given a penalty kick with no time remaining to win, 3-2, and propel them into the U.S. Soccer Region 1 tournament.
This state championship, coupled with a tournament win in Washington, D.C., at the Potomac Memorial Day Tournament, moves the U-17 Club to a national ranking of 201.
