---- — Local athlete earns national lacrosse honors
Elise Hennessey of Londonderry was selected as a U.S. Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention. She just completed her sophomore year at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro.
Hennessey, who is a goalie, was selected for her outstanding performance between the pipes. She was the defensive anchor behind a team that finished 13-3 as 2013 Lakes Region Co-Champions. In just 16 games, she notched 228 saves and allowed only 83 goals. She is the first player in Brewster Academy’s girls lacrosse history to earn U.S. Lacrosse’s top honor of All-American.
“Elise showed tremendous growth this season as a player, and was instrumental in helping us win a share of the Lakes Region title,” said head coach Melissa Lawlor. “For her to be recognized for her dedication and commitment to improving herself and her teammates every day, especially as a sophomore, is quite an honor.”
Hennessey, who aspires to play top-level Division I lacrosse, is a three-sport athlete, also playing field hockey and ice hockey for the Bobcats.
“Elise’s contributions to Brewster athletics continues to impress,” said athletic director Matt Lawlor. “She is an outstanding athlete who is truly deserving of this honor and a great example of what it means to be a part of Bobcat Nation.”
