Phantom gymnasts spook field at Brestyan's
Phantom Gymnastics traveled to Tufts University over the weekend for the annual Brestyan's Invitational Meet where 35 teams from around the country participated in many levels of the competition. The level 4 team took a first place team banner with a score of 112.825.
The level 5 team also took a first place team banner with a score of 112.725. The level 7 team went up against over 25 teams for a 2nd place win with a score of 111.3. The level 6 and 8 teams each took 6th in the competition. This meet was really special for the team, not only for their accomplishments at such a highly recognized competition, but also because many of our gymnasts had the opportunity to get their medals and the 1st place team banners signed by 2008 Beijing Olympic Silver Team medalist, Alicia Sacramone who trains at Brestyans. The gymnasts had outstanding individual placements with many gold, silver and bronze medals in the All Around and 18 golds in the individual events.
Some of the highlights include Elizabeth Aldrich from Salem winning the overall level 4 AA championship award with an impressive 38.1. On the Level 4 team in addition to the AA championship title, Elizabeth Aldrich was first on all the events 9.375 on vault, 9.725 on bars, 9.4 on beam and 9.6 on floor. Jordan Wakim of Salem took 2nd on bars with a 9.5 and was 4th in the AA with a 35.975. Katelyn Cadotte of Londonderry was 2nd in the AA for the Child division with a 35.45, 2nd on floor 9.375. Sophia Viger of Chester tied for 3rd in the AA with a 35.425. Amilia Johnston of Chester was 2nd in the AA for her division with a 36.05, 1st on beam 8.9 and 2nd on floor 9.275. Kacie Blanchet of Salem was 3rd on beam with 8.8. Sydney Chretien of Salem was 1st on bars with a 9.325. Olivia Faro of Windham was 2nd on vault with a 9.475. Morgan Suech of Salem was 1st on vault with a 9.625 and 4th in the AA 36.475. Mikayla Hawkins of Windham was 2nd on floor with a 9.350. Emily Jones of Salem was 2nd on bars with a 9.575.
Leah Faber of Salem was 1st in her division for level 5 with a 37.650 also just missing the overall championship award. Sydney Bartlett of Salem took 2nd with a 37.475, followed by teammate Ruth Mahoney of Kingston with 3rd 37.05. Ruth also took a first on beam 9.325 and a first on floor 9.5. Victoria Boutin of Sandown took a 3rd AA child division with 35.8 and Ashlee Loeffler of Hampstead too first on beam with a 9.175. In the Junior Division Hayley Shaw of Newton took 2nd in the AA 36.575 and 1st on beam 9.35 followed by Juliana Iarrobino of Hampstead who took 3rd in the AA 36.4 and 2nd on beam.
In the level 6 competitions Emma Thompson of Haverhill took 4th in the AA with a 36.25 she also tied for 2nd on floor with a 9.225 and 3rd on bars with a 9.15. Jessie Shatford of Pelham took a 2nd on vault with a 9.45.
Savannah Gigandet of Haverhill, MA level 7 just missed the overall level 7 AA championship for her level by .075 with a second place finish for the overall level 7, but first in her division with a 37.175. She was also first on beam with a 9.5. Cloe Dickson of Manchester was 2nd in the AA for the Junior division with a 36.825 and 1st on bars with a 9.1. Abby Lindsey of Derry was 3rd in the AA with a 36.375. Emily Davison of Derry took 1st on beam in her division with a 9.3. Rachel Fay of Hookset was 1st in the AA for the Senior division with a 36.025. Ali Otis of Windham tied for 1st on vault with a 9.15 and was 3rd in the AA with a 35.6.
In the Level 8 competition, Courtney Kamberalis was first in the Intermediate division with a 35.5. Erin Carroll of Kingston was 2nd with a 35.425 and 1st on bars with a 9.35. Gabie Mack of Nashua was 1st on floor with a 9.45. Caralyn Szostkiewicz of Hampstead was 1st in the AA with a 34.975 in the Senior division. She was also first on bars, beam and floor. Jessica Morrissette of Londonderry was 2nd in the AA 33.475.
