Derry’s Richard named Player of the Year
Derry’s Mike Richard, now a senior ice hockey player at Saint Anselm College, was tabbed as the Northeast-10 Player of the Year.
Richard was a unanimous pick for NE-10 first team and was given Player of the Year honors as he has accumulated 19 goals and 12 assists this season for 31 points, placing him first overall among all Hawks in points and goals.
Richard leads the team in power-play goals with seven and has notched one short-handed tally and one game-winning goal this season
He has recorded a pair of hat tricks in the 2012-13 campaign, against Skidmore on Jan. 25 and Stonehill on Feb. 19.
On a national scale, Richard ranks ninth among Division II and Division III players, scoring 0.73 goals per game on average.
Within the same group, Richard also ranks 11th in the nation with seven power-play goals.
Within the Northeast-10, he tops the charts in goals and power-play goals.
UNH will host two-daytrack-and-field clinic
DURHAM — The University of New Hampshire track and field programs will be hosting a two-day outdoor clinic on March 24 and 25 at the Paul Sweet Oval and Reggie F. Atkins Track, located at the University’s Field House.
The two-hour clinic will run from 6 to 8 p.m. on both days. It is open to all male and female athletes in grades 7 though 12.
Camp instruction will include learn-by-doing instruction and the fundamentals of technique and training on topics such as sprints, jumps, hurdles and throws.
The cost of the clinic is $80 if pre-registered at least one day before the clinic and $100 for same-day registration.
On-site registration will take place on March 24, the first day of the clinic, from 5:30 to 6 p.m.
Additionally, there is team discount at the rate of $60 per person if a team enrolls with 10 or more athletes.
