DERRY — On July 27, Derry Wolverines cheerleaders Ariana Boudreau, 12, Michaela Waterman, 12, and Kaityln Flammia, 11, were chosen as Universal Cheerleaders Association All American Cheerleaders at Cheer Camp at Mount Ida in Newton, Mass.
They each received a medal, certificate and will walk in the 2012 Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade with the UCA All American Cheerleaders.
Only the top 12 percent of cheerleaders who attend varsity camps earn the chance to march in this holiday parade.
Cheer camp is an overnight camp that provides comprehensive cheerleading instruction and a bonding experience for squads of all levels.
The weekend was very busy, with three days of cheerleading, including cheers, dance and stunts. The days were filled with team activities, big brother/big sister bonding, and one-on-one attention.
The Derry Wolverines won many ribbons and trophies.
All three girls are from Derry. Ariana, Michaela, and Kaitlyn all attend Gilbert H. Hood Middle School and are entering seventh grade.
