More than 1,200 runners join the 40th Turkey Trot 5K

---- — DERRY — The Greater Derry Track Club’s 40th annual Turkey Trot 5K Road Race attracted 1,248 runners who ran before they ate on Thanksgiving.

Runners were asked to bring nonperishable food donations for local food pantries. The GDTC had not provided donations totals at press time.

Peter Najem, 27, of Derry was the first to cross the finish line. He was followed closely by another Derry runner, Kevin McMahon, 20.
