Former Lancer plays for Purple Knights

COLCHESTER, Vt. — Courtney Bedell of Londonderry is one of three seniors on Saint Michael's College's field hockey team.

Bedell, a midfielder, played in every game last year.

With 19 sophomores and juniors helping comprise a veteran core that includes just three seniors this fall, the Purple Knights look to claim the postseason berth they missed by only two games in 2012. The Purple Knights showed their mettle last year by downing a pair of eventual play-off teams and fell to two others by one goal apiece.

The Purple Knights begin the year at Shippensburg University's Jane Goss Memorial Tournament.

Saint Michael's began its NE-10 and home slates by hosting Stonehill on Sept. 14. The top six teams in the league qualify for the NE-10 Championship, which kicks off on Nov. 5.
