Pinkerton runner impresses in Maine
Ariel Vaillancourt of the Pinkerton Academy girls cross-country team competed in the New England Championships Saturday at Twin Brook Recreation Center in Cumberland, Maine.
On a soaked, mud-filled course, Ariel ran her best race of the season.
She finished 61st in New England, 13th in the state of New Hampshire, and seventh in Division 1 overall.
Running a time of 20:38 on the tough and technical course, she competed with the best of New Hampshire and was the fourth freshman from the Granite State to cross the line.
Derry athlete stands out at Fitchburg
DERRY — Jacqueline Walker, a 2012 graduate of Pinkerton Academy and a NH Scholar recipient, is a force to be reckoned with on Fitchburg State University’s women’s soccer team.
At Pinkerton, she was the starting defensive player and was one of three captains on her team. She received the Unsung Hero Award.
At Fitchburg State University, where she is majoring in biology, she earned the starting sweeper position on the women’s soccer team as a freshman.Walker was one of two Fitchburg Falcons to the MASCAC All-Conference Second Team, for her first career selection.
She helped the Fitchburg State backline, limiting opponents to a 2.88 goals against average over 17 contests. In her rookie campaign, the freshman defender also added her first collegiate point, posting one assist in the Falcons 4-0 victory against Mass-Maritime Academy.

works at UNT
LONDONDERRY — Kristen Love, a 2007 Londonderry High School graduate and 2011 graduate of Fitchburg State University, has joined Coach Mike Peterson’s staff as the assistant director of operations for the women’s basketball program at the University of North Texas.
Love recently made the move to UNT after a successful year with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association in Atlanta. She played four years of basketball and three years of softball, and was a multiple Academic All-Conference selection in both sports at Fitchburg State University. Love played college softball after not playing the sport since middle school.
