---- — DERRY — Continue the tradition, or start a new one, but be sure to be a part of the 2012 Greater Derry Track Club Turkey Trot 5K Road Race at 9 a.m. Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22.

Take off from Gallien’s Town Beach on Beaver Lake (Route 102) in Derry.

Registrations are rolling in at more than 50 per day. Last year saw more than 1,400 runners and walkers from 20 states participate.

With new sponsors and a huge post race raffle, the 2012 event is once again shaping up to be a great way to burn some calories while kicking off the holiday season. Sign up now for a guaranteed T-shirt, and take advantage the “while it lasts” free kids’ early bird online registration. Join the fun, and share the spirit of Thanksgiving with your family and friends.

Visit gdtc.org/turkeytrot to access the link sign up and enjoy pre‐registration rates. A minimal transaction fee applies. No paper applications will be accepted for preregistration. Online registration will close out promptly on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at noon.

Registrations will be accepted at the venue from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, and from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Thanksgiving morning. Free online registrations for early bird kid registrations are only while supplies last.

For adults, 13 and older, and kids, 12 and younger, online registration is $15 for adults, free for children while supplies last.

Race-day registration, which includes Wednesday, Nov. 21, is $20 for adults, $10 for children.

Awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female winners, and to the first Derry and Londonderry male and female finishers. Awards will be presented at approximately 9:30 a.m.

There will be after-race treats. The event is hosted by the Greater Derry Track Club and Derry Recreation Department.

From Interstate 93, take Exit 4. Follow Route 102 east and proceed through Derry center to the rotary. Follow

Route 102 off the rotary east approximately one mile to Gallien’s Beach and Beaver Lake on right.

Parking is permitted anywhere on the north side of Route 102 or the west side of Pond Road, bordering Beaver Lake. Pinkerton Academy parking is available on Route 28 By-Pass one-half mile north of the East Derry round traffic circle.

There will be no refunds if the race is canceled. Pick-up of T-shirts at a later date is the responsibility of race entrants.
