Rebel tournament attracts almost 500

Close to 500 youngsters join Wrestling Rebels' tournament

DERRY — Nearly 500 young wrestlers participated Sunday in the Rebel New England Classic at Pinkerton Academy, hosted by the Derry Wrestling Rebels and the Derry Boys and Girls Club.

Twenty Wrestling Rebels went up against the most serious wrestlers from all the New England states. The Classic is a off-season tournament.

Second-grader Dillon Lavely and third-grader Molly Fahey took home the gold with first-place finishes in their weight classes.

Sixth-grader Robbie Fahey took home a silver medal for his second-place finish.

Second-grader Daniel Zabriskie and third-grader Jack Mackiernan both took home fourth-place medals.

It was the rebels’ last team tournament of the year.
