All the JV Astros had strong performances, with Nick Messina and Vinny Matrumalo wrestling twice.
Pinkerton powers along
The Lady Astros upped their season record to 11-0 by defeating Merrimack, 57-34.
They played without captain Sam Breslin, who was out with an injury. The Astros struggled in the first half, leading by just one point, 20-19.
A strong defensive effort by Courtney Collins and Skyla Gorman off the bench helped the team regain its confidence. Kayla Stacy led the team in scoring, with all of her 22 points coming in the second half. She was 11-12 from the free throw line. Coleen Fortier was next with 10, followed by Val Martin with 8.
The Lady Astros took on Timberlane and after shooting a cold 18 percent in the first quarter, Pinkerton defeated Timberlane, 51-45, to remain undefeated at 12-0.
Marissa Stacy was a nice spark off the bench with two three-point shots. Val Martin, Kayla Stacy, Brandi Bonneau rounded out the scoring for Pinkerton.
Colleen Fortier took two defensive charges.
Thirteen’s a lucky number
Pinkerton’s Lady Astros improved to 13-0 by defeating Londonderry, 55-44.
The team regrouped from the injury of team captain and senior Sam Breslin to play exceptional defense and unselfish offense.
Kayla Stacy ran the offense from the point position. Corina Moore rebounded and dribble penetrated. Val Martin and Colleen Forteir were awesome on offense. Unsung hero Brandi Bonneau was a defensive ace against UNH-bound star Aliza Simpson.
Make that eight in a row
The JV Lady Astros earned their eighth straight win with a 45-18 victory over Merrimack.
Samantha McGrath had a tremendous game defensively and scored 8 points for the Astros.
Astros go to 11-1
The JV Lady Astros ran their record to 11-1 with a 56-8 victory over Timberlane.
Samantha McGrath had 10 points in the win. Jaime Caron and Amanda Szostak combined for 17 points.
