Nate Mitchell was solid once again in the net for the Astros with 30 saves.
Pinkerton ices Bishop Brady
The Astros got back on the winning track on Saturday with an 8-2 win over Bishop Brady.
The Astros started slowly. They trailed 2-0 after the first period before taking a 3-2 lead at the end of the second period and adding five more goals in the third for the win.
Senior captain Dominic Corsetto led the way with two goals and an assist. Devin Moore added a goal and three assists.
Matt Marchman earned the win for the Astros in goal after relieving starter Nate Mitchell. Marchmann had 23 saves, Mitchell had one.
Astros top Lancers
Pinkerton Academy’s wrestlers overcame a 12-point deficit in the final three matches to defeat Londonderry by a 43-36 score last week.
It was a seesaw battle as the Astros lost the first three matches and fell behind, 18-0.
Jean Luc Lemieux, Dakota Krol and Brenden Sullivan pinned their opponents, tying the score at 18-18.
Londonderry countered by winning the next two matches by fall and took a 30-18 lead. Pinkerton’s Tony Messina then received a forfeit at 160 and Dylan Barreiro put forth a magnificent effort, winning his match 1-0. That allowed the Astros to pull within 3 points of Londonderry, 30-27.
Londonderry then won the next match by fall, making the score 36-27. Kevin Ell then scored a major decision over his opponent, tightening the meet score at 36-31.
Astros Kyle Olsen and Cam Crowell then picked up forfeits to secure the victory.
Astros look good
In two meets on Saturday, Eric Daigle, Brenden Sullivan, Jean-luc Lemieux, Brett and Tyler Wilson, Dylan Barreiro, Hunter Morris and Cam Crowell all went undefeated.
Astro JV hangs tough
In JV action on Saturday, John Durant wrestled a huge match, beating last year’s state runner-up from Timberlane, 7-0.
