Tim Barchard’s Professional Martial Arts Academy in Derry honors Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a kick-a-thon to raise money for the Susan B. Komen Foundation.
The “Kick for the Cure” event is set for Oct. 19 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Academy, 15 East Broadway. Pledge sheets are available at the Academy’s Derry and Windham locations. Donations are also accepted at the studios by Oct. 25.
Wrestling Rebels begin Nov. 5
Derry’s Wresting Rebels begin their season Nov. 5 at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Derry. The program is offered by the club for students in first through eighth grade. Practices are held at the club Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Cost is $50 for club membership and the program. Line dancing clinic
Derry Parks and Recreation sponsor a line dancing clinic on Nov. 14 featuring award-winning choreographer Ira Weisburd. The clinic is held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Veterans Hall gym, 31 West Broadway. A light lunch is included. Derry resident fee is $25 in advance and $27 for nonresidents in advance. Volleyball clinic set
Pinkerton Academy hosts a free volleyball clinic for girls in grades five through eight on Oct. 14 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Pinkerton’s Hackler gymnasium. All girls from Pinkerton’s sending towns are welcome to attend. For information contact coach Todd Royce at email@example.com.
Snowmobile safety course offered
Derry Parks and Recreation, Derry Pathfinders and New Hampshire Fish and Game host a snowmobile safety course on Dec. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Alexander-Carr Lodge, 28 Pierce Ave. in Derry. Participants must be at least 12 years of age by April 2012. Those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is now open by calling Parks and Recreation at 432-6136.
Women’s pick-up basketball
Londonderry Adult Recreation offers a women’s pick-up basketball night every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at North School. There is no commitment to attend every week. No specific level requirement is required and the program is always free. Call 437-2675 for more information.
