¬ It was a very hard fought game with Tyler Garnick and Stefan Burnett pitching well for the Mets, and Brandon Paquin and Andrew Herlihy pitching well for the Cubs.
Chris MacDonald caught for the Cubs and Kyle Cherberbonneau caught for the Mets, both throwing out runners to stop potential rallies. Both catchers also blocked¬ many balls in the dirt preventing runners from advancing and scoring.
Play of the game goes to the Mets in a beautiful throw from centerfield hitting the cutoff and Kyle Cahill gunning down a run at the plate with a beautiful throw to home from well behind second base.
Hit of the game goes to Andrew Herlihy¬ for a two-run shot in the sixth over the centerfielder's head for a double,¬ plating two runs.¬ It was an exciting game to watch and to coach.¬ Congratulations to Manager Barry Garnick and the Union Leader Mets on a great season and a hard fought victory in the Championship game.
