Best Buddies NH hosts tennis tourney

DERRY — The Best Buddies NH Tennis Challenge will be held July 26-29 at the Pinkerton Academy tennis courts in Derry.

Main events in the tournament are: Men's Singles and Doubles, Women's Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Junior 15 and under Coed Singles. These events are open to all ages and ability levels.

There also will be a barbecue, food/drink booth, raffles, tennis vendors and information about the Best Buddies NH programs. All proceeds from the event benefit Best Buddies NH.

LHS plans athletic forms nights Aug. 1-2

Londonderry athletic director Howard Sobolov has announced that the Londonderry High School and Londonderry Middle School Athletic Forms Collection Nights for all fall sports will be Wednesday, Aug. 1, and Thursday, Aug. 2, between 5 and 6 p.m. in the LHS gym lobby.

Students can pick up the forms in the LHS athletic office between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. or download them from the LMS or LHS athletic pages.

Learn how to cook what you kill, catch

CONCORD — Registration is now open for the Barry Camp Wild Game Culinary Adventure, a weekend of seminars on wild game preparation and cooking at Barry Conservation Camp in Milan, Sept. 28-30.

The cost is $100, which includes meals, instruction and rustic lodging. All proceeds will benefit the Barry Camp Fund. Applications are available at huntnh.com/barrycamp/game_weekend.html or call 271-3211.

You must be 18 or older to attend. Register early; this event is limited to 30 participants.

This weekend is just the ticket for hunters who wonder, "I pulled the trigger, now what do I do?" Participants will learn about dressing, dragging and hanging wild game.

They will get an introduction to basic meat cutting and learn about cooking wild game, planning a wild game menu (pairing wild foods), preparing wild game for cooking and smoking meat.
