Take a daughter golfing this week

LONDONDERRY — Londonderry Country Club is offering free golf to daughters age 8 to 16 through Sunday, July 15.

The daughters must be accompanied by a paying parent. The promotion is part of the national "Take Your Daughter to the Course Week," sponsored by the National Golf Course Owners Association.

Golf is a healthy, individual sport that can be enjoyed by girls throughout their lifetimes.

This is a great opportunity to introduce your daughter to the game of golf, or to continue to encourage an already interested player.

Londonderry Country Club is an 18-hole executive golf course with a course layout designed to accommodate every golfer's skill level, translating to a rewarding and challenging golfing experience for the novice to the most avid players.

DERRY — The 22nd annual Shoot for the Stars field hockey camp has started at Rider Field in Derry this week.

A second week starts Monday, July 16, from 8 a.m. to noon each day.

Beginning players to high school varsity athletes are welcome to attend the camp, run by coach Denise Rioux and her staff.

Women, this seminar is for you

DERRY — Professional Martial Arts Academy is holding a free self-protection seminar for women Thursday, July 26, from 8 to 8:45 p.m. at 15 E. Broadway.

The seminar will give women the knowledge of basic street protection. Participants will leave ready and able to use the concepts taught.

Topics will include situational awareness, street-wise precautions, the human's physical weak spot, and learning how to escape an attacker.

Red Cross to benefit from Golf Classic

The American Red Cross of New Hampshire will be holding its 19th Annual Golf Classic Tournament on Monday, Sept. 10, at the Stonebridge Country Club located in Goffstown.

A golf cart, continental breakfast and catered lunch are included in the cost to play. Tickets for raffle prizes and/or awards will also be available All are invited to attend this fun-filled day.

The Red Cross hopes to raise $50,000 to help fund the vital services it provides to the community. Proceeds will be used for local disaster relief as well as educational programming.

Contributions through sponsorships, team foursomes, and/or gift certificates/items for the raffle are currently being accepted.
