Pinkerton lax team has high expectations

DERRY — Pinkerton Academy saw 81 candidates for its varsity boys lacrosse team. Last year’s team went 19-2 on the season, losing in the state finals to Bishop Guertin.

There are 12 returning starters. They include: Jake Lisauskas, senior, midfield; Brett Connal, senior, defense; Sean Delea, senior, midfield; Matt Madden, senior, defense; Evan Sweeney, senior, attack; Austin Maylor, senior, midfield; Todd Billetter, junior, attack; Ryan Burke, junior, defense; Jack Hanaway, junior, midfield; James Tulley, sophomore, midfield; Cam Richard, sophomore, defense; Brett Dattilo, sophomore, midfield.

There are two returning lettermen, junior Cam Hayward in goal and senior Garrett Faino at midfield.

Top newcomers are senior Bailey Walsh and freshman Brandon Tettler.

Others to watch are: Patrick Thompson, junior; Cam Peredna, junior; Nick Richard, junior; Sam Ward, junior; Steve Tewksbury, junior; Jason Paris, junior; Mason Barchard, sophomore; Peter Sweeney, sophomore; Sean Donohue, sophomore; John Durant, sophomore; Bradd Ross, sophomore; Matt Webber, sophomore; Nick Coombs, freshman; Drew Strople, freshman; Ryan Albrecht, freshman; Kyle Fortier, freshman; Sam Goudreault, freshman; Adam Morin, freshman; Connor Kennedy, freshman; Connor Delea, freshman; Liam Rooney, freshman.

The season opener is away against Concord High School on April 14.

Coach Brian O’Reilly is in his 32nd year and has a 433-128 record.

“Our expectations are to compete for a championship,” O’Reilly said. “This team has a high lacrosse IQ and solid skills. Defense, goaltending, faceoffs, and attack will carry the team.”

Calling all very young baseball players

DERRY — This is the last week for T-ball registration; get in before it closes Friday.

Grasshopper Baseball registration begins May 5 for ages 5 to 9 at the Derry Parks & Recreation Department, 31 West Broadway.

T-ball is for youngsters ages 4 to 7 as of May 1, 2014.

The fee for residents is $25, $45 for nonresidents. Each additional family member is $10.

T-ball is a fun, instructional program introducing the fundamentals of the sport in a non-competitive atmosphere.
