Twenty minutes into the first half, midfielder Rachel Wood scored on a pass from Michaela Forand to put the Astros up 1-0, which would prove to be all they needed.
In the second half, the Astros received another goal from Nicole Gonya off an assist from Madi Smith. Goalie Julia Bousquet registered another shutout, thanks to strong defensive work by Emily Sharretts and Emily Hanna.
Make that 2 for the Lancers
On Oct. 4, the freshman Astros hosted the Lancers and showed they were a different team from Monday. The score was tied 0-0 going into the half, despite some strong chances by the Astros.
Late into the second half, Londonderry collected a rebound and managed to put it in the net to go up, 1-0. The Lancers held off a strong Astro counterattack in the remaining minutes to hold on to win, 1-0.
Astros Emily Sharretts, Taylor Frost and goalie Julia Bousquet played strong defense. Pinkerton’s Michaela Forrand, Nikki Longval, and Sarah McLaughlin worked hard in the middle of the field.
Three in a row
The varsity Lady Astros won their third consecutive game Oct. 2 when they beat Winnacunnet, 3-1.
The 6-3 Astros were led by Elizabeth Hicks with 15 service points, Taylor Ferdinando with 5 aces and 19 assists, Olivia Mathieu with 21 kills, Courtney Collins with 5 blocks, and Lexi Verreault with 32 digs. Kelsey Cummings contributed 20 digs, 10 kills and 11 service points.

The varsity Astros made it four straight wins when they defeated a good Hollis/Brookline team, 3-0.
Setter Taylor Ferdinando had 14 service points, 5 aces and 11 assists. Kelsey Cummings and Olivia Mathieu had 9 kills apiece and Courtney Collins contributed 7 kills. Lexie Verrault had 12 service points and Kelsey Cummings added 10 service points and 3 aces.
Nicole Langlais, Denise White and Faolin Harrington had good defensive games and contributed key kills late in the games. The Astros now stand 7-3 on the season.
