Sullivan Tire donates
to soccer program
DERRY — The Michelin Soccer Program and Sullivan Tire Co. Inc. donated more than $650 in both funds and equipment to Derry Soccer Club.
These funds go a long way in helping to provide scholarships, uniforms and other soccer essentials for the participating leagues. Giving back to the community is a top priority for Michelin.
The Michelin Soccer Program partners tire dealers with local youth soccer organizations, providing the dealers the opportunity to reach out to the community. The leagues, in turn, receive funds and equipment.
The soccer leagues are sent certificates that can be redeemed at the dealer’s store for a free soccer ball during a 30-day promotional period, while supplies last. After a 60-day tire rebate promotion included on the certificate, Michelin donates $2 to the soccer organization for each tire sold during the program.
Tim Raymond of Sullivan Tire Co., Inc. in Derry is an avid supporter of the program.
“The Michelin Soccer Program is an incredible way to connect with families and young players,” he said. “The look on the child’s face as you hand them their soccer ball is priceless. I encourage all the Michelin dealers to find a local soccer league and support them through this program.”

Winter baseball workouts start Jan. 6
DERRY — The Greater Derry Baseball Association will be conducting a winter workout baseball program for all interested Pinkerton Academy freshmen through seniors.
The program will be held at the SportZone in Derry on Sundays from 2:45 to 4:30 p.m., beginning Jan. 6.
The program will last for 10 weeks. The program will be run by former college baseball players and a college coach.
The workout program will include cage and field time each week. The fee for this program is $200. Email email@example.com for questions.
Disaster relief event nets $7,400
LOCO Sports Inc. presented the Disaster Relief 5K Road Race in Exeter on Dec. 2. Approximately 550 runners and walkers registered for the event, resulting in nearly $7,400 being raised.
LOCO Sports teamed up with Margaritas Restaurant to present the Disaster Relief 5K walk and run, supporting the Red Cross’s efforts for disaster relief to those affected by Superstorm Sandy and other similar disasters. Participants ran and walked for a great cause and enjoyed a fajita-fueled party afterward.
One hundred percent of the net proceeds from the Disaster Relief 5K are being be donated by LOCO Sports to the American Red Cross for disaster relief. The race proceeds were just over $6,200 while individual donations brought in another $1,150, for a grand total of nearly $7,400.
LOCO successfully engaged with their vendors and services partners, who offered to participate at reduced or waived rates, thus increasing the amount of proceeds for the cause.
LOCO Sports is a New Hampshire-based event management company that presents 13 running races across New England.
It’s time to think
The Granite State Baseball League is currently looking for players and teams to compete in the 2013 season.
The GSBL was established in 1992 and is the premier amateur adult baseball league in New Hampshire.
Teams play 18 regular season games on Sundays, starting in April. Playoffs begin in August and the league hosts an annual All-Star Game.
There are currently 13 teams that compete in 28+ and 38+ Divisions.
