Try a ‘trot’ before eating turkey this Thanksgiving

DERRY — Sign up soon for the Greater Derry Track Club’s 40th annual Turkey Trot 5K Road Race.

It starts at 9 a.m. Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, at Gallien’s Town Beach on Beaver Lake, Route 102.

This event draws runners from all over. Sign up now to guarantee yourself a T-shirt and to take advantage of the “while it lasts” free kid’s early bird online registration.

Visit and access the link to sign up and enjoy pre-registration rates. A minimal transaction fee applies. No paper applications will be accepted for pre-registration. Online registration will close out promptly at noon Nov. 27. Registrations will be accepted at the venue from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 70 to 8:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving. Free online registrations for early bird kid’s registrations are only while supplies last.

The GDTC asks each registrant to bring a nonperishable canned or dry good item to replenish area food banks.

Awards will be presented at approximately 9:30 a.m.

Patriots’ alumni to hit the LHS court on Jan. 25

LONDONDERRY — The Londonderry High School Boosters are starting the annual fund drive.

Local businesses and residents will be called in an effort to raise awareness and support for its annual New England Patriots Alumni Charity Basketball game on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 1 p.m. in the Londonderry High School gymnasium.

Anticipated players include three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Pass, 1986 Super Bowl hero Ronnie Lippett and more. In addition to the main event, there will be a chance for autographs and pictures during and after the game.

Money raised will help programs supported throughout the year by the Londonderry High School Boosters. Tickets will be available at the door for a suggested $10 donation.
