Lancers top Astros

The Lancers unified basketball team opened its season onJan. 24 with a home victory over rival Pinkerton Academy, 40-32.

LHS drops to Hinsdale

In the second game of the season, Londonderry was defeated in a well-played, hard-fought game, 66-63, by Hinsdale.



Lancers top Keene

The Lancers wrestling team won an away meet at Keene Jan. 22, 57-9.

In the 132-pound class, Londonderry's Jean-Luc Lemieux pinned Quintin Watson. Wrestling at 138 pounds, Scott Labbe of Keene beat Lancer Colin Reardon. At 145 pounds, Matthew Bush of Keene pinned Londonderry's Jake Barr. At 152 pounds, Jon Young of Londonderry by forfeit. At 160 pounds Lancer Will Bean pinned Elias August.

At 170 pounds, Kyle Byrd of LHS pinned Jarod Mutuski. At 182 pounds, Sebastian Roszczenko of LHS beat Benjamin Cook. At 195 pounds, Lancer Richard Bilodeau topped Matthew Winchester. At 220, Mahdi Achab of LHS, double forfeit. At 106 pounds, Londonderry's Tyler Byrd beat Tristan Stetson. At 113 pounds, Lancer Caleb Moscoso by forfeit. At 120 pounds, Lancer Ryan Cabezas pinned Zach Juadan and at 126 pounds, Mitch Rose of LHS pinned Spencer Blanchard.

Owls top Londonderry

At the Timberlane invitational Jan. 25, the Lancers put seven in the finals, but come up short, taking second place as a team with 175 points behind tournament champions and host Timberlane (225.5).

Astros fall to Blue Hawks

On Jan. 24, the Astro matmen traveled to Exeter for a makeup meet. The Astros couldn’t close the deal, falling 45-28 to a very aggressive Blue Hawks squad.

Picking up wins for the Astros were freshman Shayne McCann, sophomores Derek Low (by pin) and Dylan Barreiro (3-2), junior Tyler Wilson (11-2), and senior captains Kevin Ell (by Pin) and Brett Wilson (11-0). In addition to the Exeter meet, senior Captain Hunter Morris also picked up a pin against a wrestler from Oyster River.
