Astros top Nashua South in OT
The Astros came out flying Jan. 29, but it was Nashua South who scored twice in the first on a breakaway and power play goal.
Pinkerton continued their strong play into the second chipping away at the lead as junior Tyler Poole scored early from fellow juniors Gio Corsetto and Ethan Landry. The trio of juniors struck again early in the third as Landry beat South goaltender AJ Bender’s high glove.
Bender proved tough to beat as Pinkerton put 39 shots on net, but it proved too much as junior Gio Corsetto scored on a rebound from Tyler Poole at 4:44 of OT for the 3-2 win.
Lancers score 8 in win
The Londonderry hockey team defeated Trinity on Jan. 26 at St. Anselm College’s Sullivan Arena to run its record to 8-2.
Scoring for Londonderry were Jason Parker with two goals, Curtis Harper with two goals, Eric Coburn one goal, Cooper Roy one goal, and Matt Moriarty one goal. Joe McGrath played well in net.
Young Lancers score a win
The Lancer JV team defeated Pelham/Windham on Jan. 26, 4-3, at the Icenter in Salem.
Pinkerton takes a tie
The JV Astros tied Bishop Guertin 2-2 on Jan. 26 at The Ice Den. Chris Gile scored both goals for Astros, who led 2-0 at the mid-point of the game.
Bishop Guertin tied the game with 8:34 left in the game. Overtime saw the Astros fail to capitalize on several scoring opportunities and the game ended in a tie.
Astros can't overcome Hanover
Pinkerton's JV team saw its record fall to 5-3-1 after a 6-3 loss to Hanover on Feb. 1.
The Astros trailed 4-0 early in the third period, then fought back and trailed 5-3 before giving up one more to Hanover. Pinkerton goals were scored by Cam Appleyard, Kaylie DeCosmo and Chris Gile. Chris Ronan made 24 saves in goal for the Astros.
