Moreaus medal at judo event
A local father/son judo team headed to West Warwich Rhode Island recently to compete in the Ocean State International Judo Tournament.
Thomas Moreau, Sr., stopped at East Derry Memorial Elementary School to pick up his son, Thomas, Jr. and then headed south to Rhode Island for the tournament, hosted by Mayo Quanchi Judo.
Tommy, Jr., 6, is no stranger to competition as he earned a silver medal in the Junior National Championships in Boston last June and has also been nominated as New Hampshire Junior Competitor for 2008, kicking off the competition with several fights, and earning a gold medal for the Little Spartans of Moreau's Training Center.
Tom Moreau, Sr., fought in two elite divisions, made up of other elite competitors, fought eight times throughout the day and earned a bronze medal in the -98 kg. division and fourth place in -81 kg. division.
Eddie Brito, captain of Moreau's Training Center's Team Valor and nominated for New Hampshire Senior Competitor for 2008, also competed well and earned a fourth place finish in the -98 kg. division.

Londonderry High School graduates Sean Ryan, a redshirt freshman at UNH, will suit up for the Wildcats, while brother Casey Ryan will be dressing as a Blue Devil. They are pictured above in the days they played for the Lancers. -
