Derry t-ball and sofball registration

DERRY - The Town of Derry Parks and Recreation Department is currently accepting registrations for spring T-ball and softball through Friday, April 17. Registrations are accepted Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with and evening registration date on Wednesday, April 8, until 8 p.m.

Any child 5 to 7 years of age is eligible to participate in the T-ball program and will be placed in the appropriate division based on the participant's age as of May 1, 2009. Please note that a birth certificate is required upon registering all 5-year-old participants.

The Girls Softball program is divided up into several age divisions, girls 8-9, girls 10-11, girls 12-14. It is important to note that any athlete enrolled in any school junior or varsity team and/or little league is NOT eligible to participate in this program. If any participant is trying out for a competitive league, registrations may be accepted and a spot held on a team until final cuts for the competitive teams have been made.

The Spring T-ball/softball program is scheduled to being in May with games running on a biweekly schedule, either adhering to a Monday-Wednesday or a Tuesday-Thursday schedule. All games begin at 6:30 p.m. at various field locations throughout the Town. Girls' softball teams will also have the opportunity to practice one additional day each week. Schedules and field assignments will be forwarded upon formation of teams.

Derry residents registration fee is $25. Non-residents registration fee is $45. There is a family rate of $10 each additional child. Registrations may be found at the recreation office or on the Recreation Web site www.derry.nh.us/recreation. Cash or check payments only. Please make checks payable to Derry Parks and Recreation.

The Derry Parks & Recreation Department is excited to announce that the Girls Softball Program will be transitioning to the Derry Little League for the 2010 season. This transition will bring not only games and practices, but also tournament play as well, creating a terrific opportunity for teams to branch outside the Derry area.
