A smothering defense from the opening kickoff led the Londonderry Wildcat JVs to a 24-0 win over Nashua during the weekend.

Cody Hall recovered a fumble on Nashua's initial drive. The recovery was followed by a 42-yard touchdown run by Londonderry's Tyler Young. The two-point conversion on a pass from Joey Milliard to Dan Hicks, made it 8-0.

A Joey Millard tackle caused a second Nashua fumble, recovered by Tyler Young. Londonderry then mounted a 60-yard drive that ended with a Wildcat fumble on Nashua 5 yard line. The Wildcats did not have to wait long for Cody Hall's second fumble recovery of the game to get the ball back.

Young ripped off a 20-yard touchdown run as well as the two-point conversion to make it 16-0.

The Londonderry defense shone again just before the half on an interception by Kyle Knight.

Tyler Young' s third touchdown of the game, a 40-yard jaunt, and his second two-point conversion accounted for all of the second-half scoring. Young accounted for 22 points and rushed for well over 100 yards. Zack Lee led the Wildcat defense. Dan Hicks and Nate Jodoin had good days running the ball.

The Londonderry Wildcats capped an opening drive with a 50-yard touchdown run by Mitch Laferriere and never looked back in a 42-20 win over Nashua.

Nashua came right back with a 90-yard drive of its own with several pass completions to tie the score, 6-6. But the Wildcats got a 45-yard-run by Joel Rodriguez that set up Mitchell Laferriere's four-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion was good on a pass from Dylan Cole to David Sharkey.

Nashua cut the lead to 14-12, but Londonderry's third drive was capped by Mitchell Laferriere's three-yard touchdown run, his third of the half, to put Londonderry up 20-12 at the break.

In the second half, Londonderry's defense stepped up and shut down the Nashua offense.

Londonderry began to pull away, capping a long drive with a 20-yard touchdown run by Jake Cassidy. Cole scored on the quarterback keeper for the two-point conversion.

A Joel Rodriguez interception led to a 15-yard touchdown pass from Dylan Cole to Troy Ward. Rodriguez ran in the two-point.

Londonderry would score again on a Nathan Jodoin 16-yard touchdown.

Mitchell Laferriere and Shayne Holland defensively had several tackles. Laferriere, Cassidy and Rodriguez have big days on the ground.

Junior Peewee (Blue) Londonderry 19 Demons 0

The Londonderry Wildcats erupted for three touchdowns in the second half en route to a 19-0 win over the Derry 1 in Junior Pee Wee action over the weekend.

After only giving up five yards on the opening Derry drive and an offensive four and out after a first and five for Londonderry, Derry took over and began pounding the ball up the middle, driving all the way to first and goal inside the 10 of Londonderry. Kyle Byrd stopped the deep drive with an nifty interception from the end zone nearly bringing back all the way before a penalty set the ball first and 10 at the Londonderry 30-yard line. Good defense on both sides of the ball kept both teams out of the end zone as a strong drive by the Wildcats was interrupted by the game clock and half, with the score remaining tied at 0.

Early in the second half saw much of the same defensively until a huge fumble recovery by Wildcat Chris Rowan began turning the tide of momentum. The Londonderry offense got things rolling with tough running by David Wiedenfeld, Eric Fairweather, and a 88-yard touchdown run by Kyle Byrd and the one-point conversion, making the score 7-0.

After a defensive stop on the next series, Byrd took it into the end zone again, this time from 50 yards out, making it 13-0 at the end of the third quarter.

In the final quarter, the Londonderry "D" kept holding tight and the offense went to work this time with Brandon Costa taking it for a 47-yard touchdown run to make it 19-0.

The Cats were led defensively by Kyle Byrd, Gary Richards, Jimmy Nee, Zack Garside, David Wiedenfeld and Nathan Richards, all with multiple tackles and two broken-up pass attempts with five tackles by Eric Fairweather. Offensively, Wiedenfeld and Costa each gained nearly 50 yards, while Kyle Byrd racked up 200 big yards on the ground.

Derry's Evan Rodgers had several long runs and Collin Harris had some nice catches from the arm of quarterback Tyler Busby. Aidan Sullivan and Joey Lydick had fumble recoveries for the Demons, while Connor Smith made two outstanding tackles.

Derry Demons

Junior Midgets outgunned

The Demons Junior Midget team traveled to Hudson on Sunday in a game that saw an offensive explosion from the start. Derry's Josh Vatcher hauled in touchdown screen passes of 33 and 50 yards from quarterback Greg Bousnakis in the first quarter. The Bears always answered, however, putting up three first-quarter touchdowns of their own. After entering the second quarter with Hudson up 21-16, the Demons offense slowed, but the Bears kept racking up the yardage, eventually taking the game 48-16.

PeeWees remain undefeated

The Demons PeeWees squad ran their record to 4-0 with an impressive 31-0 shutout against the Manchester East Cobras at Gill Stadium. David Dupont led the high-scoring attack with three rushing touchdowns. Brandon Barlow broke free for an impressive 42-yard touchdown burst, while teammate Richard Berardi punched in a touchdown for the Demons as well.

Junior PeeWee 2 upended in Pelham

After trailing 7-0, Derry's Cam Richard hit Tommy Rommick for a 24-yard touchdown pass on the opening play of the second quarter to cut Pelham/Windham's lead to 7-6. The Razorbacks went on to return the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown and never looked back. Derry's Brett Dattilo tried to spark a late rally in the final quarter with an interception, but Pelham/Windham went on to win the game 20-6.

Mitey Mite 1 loses to Pelham

Following a scoreless tie the week before, it looked as though the Demons Mitey Mite 1 team was headed down the same path in Pelham with neither team able to put up any points well into the fourth quarter. With about seven minutes to go in the game, the Razorbacks finally opened the scoring. The Demons answered quickly with a nice drive capped by a 20-yard touchdown run from Sam Goudreault. With the game tied at six, Pelham/Windham took the kickoff back for a TD to earn a 12-6 victory. Defensively for Derry, Nathan Barnhart had two touchdown-saving tackles at cornerback. Ryan Kittery played well on defense.

Mitey Mite 2 can't hold off Plymouth

The Demons began the game with a successful onside kick recovered by Tim Gile. They then marched down the field in a sustained drive, eating up most of the first quarter clock and scored on a Nico Buccieri rush. Quarterback Ryan Kirby also scored for the Demons on a 1-yard keeper to finish his long run on the play before. The Huskies' offense proved too much for the usually stingy Demons' defense, However, Plymouth won the game 22-12.
