Professional Martial Arts Academy will host a free Women's Self-Protection Class on Friday, July 11 from 7:45 to 8:30 p.m. The class will consist of the ABCs of conflict avoidance and how to recognize and avoid situations. The class will also cover street awareness, practical self defense, and escape techniques. The best part is the class is open to the entire community. NHTI is seeking an assistant men's soccer coach for a position that begins immediately upon hire. The 18th Annual Dana Ball "Love" Tennis Tournament will be run from July 16 to July 20 and July 23 to July 27. Entry deadlines for men's singles is July 9 and all other event deadlines are July 16. The Derry Soccer Club is looking for players interested in joining the Derry Eagles Girls U13 team. Players born between Aug. 1, 1995, and July 31, 1996, are eligible. The Derry Soccer Club provides professional training in the fall and spring through the British Challenger Organization. The team will compete in the Granite State Youth Soccer League, playing two tournaments in the fall and two in the spring. Astros Shoot for the Stars Field Hockey Camp is still accepting applications. The camp runs 8 a.m. to noon at Rider Field in Derry the weeks of July 7-11 and July 14-18. The cost is $100 for one week and $175 for two weeks. Girls in grades four through 12 may attend. The camp will have groups for beginners to high school varsity. Greater Nutfield Community Tennis will summer tennis camp and Quick Start Tennis programs with sessions starting July 7, July 28, Aug. 5 and Aug. 11, with a make-up session Aug. 18 at the Alexandar/Carr Tennis Courts on Birch Street in Derry. Pinkerton tennis coach John Pelkey is the head professional, and the program has a one-to-five instructor to student ratio. Players age 5-18 are eligible. Players age 5-6 cost $40 per session, older players cost $50 per session. Additional family members are 50 percent off. There will be free T-shirts and prizes, as well as free refreshments. The Derry Boys and Girls Club will host a wrestling day camp with the coaches and wrestlers of Lock Haven University, a Division 1 NCAA powerhouse.
