Lancer Power Camp, run by Michelle Hart-Miller, Londonderry High's certified athletic trainer and strength and conditioning specialist, will be held again this summer. The camp is open to all athletes eighth grade and up who interested in improving strength, speed, agility, quickness and power. This program starts June 23 and is designed to improve athleticism and reduce the potential for injuries. Three program options are available. For more information, visit www.lancerpower.com.
The Derry Boys and Girls Club will host a wrestling day camp by the coaches and wrestlers of Lock Haven University, a Division 1 NCAA powerhouse. The camp will be held at West Running Brook Middle School from Monday, July 21, to Wednesday, July 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $150 per camper; additional campers from the same family are $125. Grand Slam Baseball Camp will be held at Pinkerton Academy June 24-27 and July 14-18. The camp is open to campers 8-13 years old both weeks, and 14-15 years old in the second week only. Cost is $100 per week, or $90 per week if the camper attends both sessions. Camp sign-up is Thursday, May 15, and Tuesday, May 20, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Marion Gerrish Community Center in Derry. Varsity Soccer Camp, held by Pinkerton boys coach Kerry Boles, will hold its youth week for ages 7-13 July 14-18, with sessions running from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. High school week (freshmen to seniors) will be July 28 through Aug. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Both camps will be held at Hood Middle School. Fitness Camp will be at Pinkerton's track, Aug. 11-15, from 6 to 8 p.m. For information, contact Boles at 432-9171 or kb22@comcast.net.
Pinkerton basketball coach Peter Rosinski will host a boys basketball camp at Pinkerton Academy June 30-July 3 or July 8-11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is also a half-day offensive skill camp, July 21-25, that runs 9 a.m. to noon. Age divisions are 8-9, 10-12 and 13-14. A full week costs $100; a half-week costs $50. The Pinkerton Lady Astros basketball camp, run by Astros coach John Barry, will have sessions June 23-27 and July 14-18 for girls age 8-14. Camps will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the cost is $95. All campers will receive a T-shirt and ball. There will also be a skills camp, July 21-25, that runs from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. and costs $50. SportsZone will hold summer basketball camps and leagues and as well as youth sports day camps beginning this summer. Basketball camps run July 14-18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for boys, July 21-25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for girls, July 28 to Aug. 1 for co-ed, and Aug. 5-8 for elite co-ed. Derry Legion Post 9 will hold tryouts for its Legion and Jr. Legion baseball programs on Saturday, May 17, at 1 p.m. at the Pinkerton Academy varsity baseball field.
